Every woman needs that 1 black dress in her closet. You know that one that says “I am glamorous and I am gorgeous.” A dress that will make every man turn his head when she enters a room. A dress that fits to perfection….

I believe Kori found that dress!! What do you think?

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of a headshot session with the fabulous Mrs Marie Pryor. Headshot sessions can be really quick….but when you are having so much fun sometimes time isn’t a factor. I had such a great time with Marie and can’t wait to share the rest of her images…but for now…here is a sneak peek!

Lifestyle Photography | Ms. Darlena Battle

Ms. Darlena Battle is a woman who is about her business. She knows how to wheel and deal with the best of them. In the words of Beyonce….This ‘GROWN woman’ is mother of 2, full time worker, sister, daughter, friend, significant other AND has found the time to complete her Master’s degree in Engineering from UAB. I would say that she qualifies for super woman! This session was Darlena’s graduation lifestyle photography session.

I had a GREAT time with Darlena and her hairstylist/makeup artist Ursala Johnson (UJ). It was a photography session but it also was a girls bonding session. We had a wonderful time capturing great images, laughing, talking, and eating delicious pastries at Chez Lulu. When you get 3 women together the creativity and ideas overflow. Take a look below and you will see exactly what I mean. I hope that you enjoy this session. It was definitely one of my favorites!

Portrait Photography | Kimberly Murray Photography

I met Kim several years ago through our mentor, Ross Oscar Knight. Over the years we have become very good friends. We have grown together and developed or craft together. Kim, to me, has a fantastic eye for photography and she can work light like no other :-). Last year we both attended the Blink Conference in Nashville, TN with Ike and Tash Haynes. In some of our downtime, we collaborated for a session swap on the rooftop of the Aloft Hotel in Downtown Nashville.

One of the most nerve racking and hardest things to do for a photographer……is photographing another photographer. Another photographer knows exactly what you are doing and can tell what you did right or wrong. When we began shooting, I was a little nervous because after all Kim is a great photographer herself. After we got going we had a great time just trying stuff out and observing each others techniques.

Although Kim and I knew each other before the conference, the Blink Conference provided a great way for us to get together, enjoy like minded people, and provided fantastic  environment to learn. I am truly thankful for the Blink Conference for the many opportunities that it provided to meet up with old friends and to meet new ones. As you scroll down, you will see the great collaboration between two great photography friends. If you have a second, be sure to head over to Kim’s site Kimberly Murray Photography and check out her work!

This woman is my heart! She is my best friend, my mother, and the most giving person that I know. My mom does not like to take pictures. In fact she will purposefully block the camera for any picture. So as you can probably tell, I was soooo happy when she agreed to let me take a quick photo of her. I love this woman dearly. She is truly the BEST mom ever and I am truly blessed that she is mine!

There is always something special about the relationship between a mother and their child….a mom does anything for her child…love them, care for them, protect and nurture them, support them, laugh with them , cry with them, pick them up when they are down, celebrate the accomplishments, share life learned lessons…and be their friend. In a mothers eye…you are always perfect…I can personally relate to all of these things because I share that relationship with my own mom and it is truly special when you see this relationship with others.

Earlier this week I posted about a beautiful young lady by the name of Deja…..it only seemed fitting for me to post a quick post on her mom Lisa. At the end of last year, Lisa contacted me about doing something special for her daughter…specifically…surprising her for her 15th birthday. During the session one thing stood out that was truly special…The relationship between Deja and Lisa…True enough there was a mother/ daughter relationship but there was also a close friendship. In fact you could tell that they were truly best friends. During the session I had the pleasure of snapping a few shots of Lisa as well as a few shots of them together. I have to commend Lisa for wanting her daughter to experience something so special…I congratulate Lisa on being one of the great mom’s out there. I hope that you enjoy today’s post of a GORGEOUS mom :-)

This beautiful, gorgeous, young lady stole my heart when she stepped out rocking ‘CANON’ :-) She stole it again when she listed Auburn on her list of college choices :-) She stole it one last time with how mature she was for the age of 15. How many 15 year olds do you know who can talk about the fundamentals of a foundation for a healthy relationship from a religious aspect ??? She was a first for me! I can say that Deja is not the typical 15 year old….she is far more special. She is far beyond her years. I can only wish that I had that maturity when I was 15.

This session was Deja’s 15th surprise birthday present from her mom Lisa. Shooting Deja was beyond words the greatest. She was easy going, excited, and care free. A photographer’s dream client! As you look through the pictures below….you will see Deja’s look alike gorgeous mom…and you will see a few of the MANY photos that we took that day. It was a difficult task to narrow down the best… Be sure to Let Deja know what you think of the pictures!!
